Designed and built at the Marghera shipyard, the new ship Costa Firenze was officially delivered by Fincantieri to Costa Cruises on 22 December 2020.

With a gross tonnage of 135,000 and room for over 5,200 guests, Costa Firenze is a ship inspired by the beauty of Renaissance Florence and is intended and designed to offer our guests a unique experience, particularly families, with plenty of entertainment and services just for them.

Sustainability plays a crucial role on Costa Firenze too: the ship's superb environmental performance has been recognised by RINA which awarded it Green Star 3 certification that comprises all the main aspects of a ship's environmental compatibility, each aspect calling for specific protection and prevention standards.

The delivery of Costa Firenze was a unique “hybrid” event that was digitally broadcast live in streaming around the world on six different channels and in two languages. It featured a state-of-the-art TV studio, 180 square metres of LED lights, traditional video contributions for the speeches, and artistic performances, with the host, Mia Ceran, participating in person to take viewers on the very first tour of Costa Firenze.

This new entertainment format – a sign of these COVID-19 times – was a huge success, with lots of people joining in and, once again, shining a spotlight on the innovation and creativity skills that have always been a distinguishing feature of Costa.

Costa Firenze will sail the seas of the Mediterranean on one-week itineraries.
