On board our “green” flagship Costa Smeralda, an agreement was signed with Italy’s General Commissioner’s Office for Expo Dubai 2020 with Costa Cruises participating as Gold Sponsor of the Italy Pavilion. It marks an important event that is part of our own cruise relaunch phase, and the relaunch of tourism in general, and it gives us the chance to showcase our country and its wonderful sights to an Italian and international audience, promoting the values of sustainable growth at the heart of the Italy Pavilion at Expo Dubai starting on 1 October 2021.
The central theme is sustainability in all its guises and in its broadest sense so that forms of tourism can be promoted that are ever more inclusive and understanding of the needs of local areas and local communities, taking guests to culturally important but not yet well-known destinations with projects to keep their beauty and local traditions intact, including via the work of the Costa Crociere Foundation.
Our participation in Expo Dubai, along with other high-end Italian brands, will involve meetings and discussions about the crucial issues for the future, like the growth of sustainable, inclusive tourism, in which our company wants to be a leader and an example for the whole sector, in order to help create value for the economy and for our destinations in the interest of innovation, respect for other cultures, and the environment.
But that's not all we're doing! Costa Firenze will be positioned in the Persian Gulf next winter from 17 December 2021 until mid-March 2022, enabling our guests to visit the Italy Pavilion and to make the most of the Expo experience with special packages.
