Salvador da Bahia

The former capital of Brazil, the port of Salvador da Bahia was the first on the coast of the New World.

Its old town is in fact the largest in the South America. On your cruise to Salvador, you'll discover the city's colonial history, which is reflected in the pink, yellow and blue houses and the many Baroque churches, including the convent of St. Francis. The Pelourinho is connected to the lower city via the Elevador Lacerda, a lift that descends from the hill to the Comércio district, where you can also find the port of Salvador da Bahia and the Mercado  Modelo market. The smiles of the children of Salvador are one of the things that will remain in your heart for the duration of our Costa Cruise in Brazil. During the stop, you can visit the magnificent monuments of the historic centre and explore the Praia do Forte Village, Bahia, where you can see the success of the Tamar sea turtle project, which was launched 37 years ago to protect sea turtles.
