Description A tour to discover some of the best sights in Shanghai, from the more tranquil atmosphere of Yuyuan Garden in the Old City, to the more Western atmosphere of the French Concession and of the busy The Bund district.

What we will see
  • Yuyuan Garden in the Old City
  • Famous The Bund district
  • The Western soul of the French Concession

What we will do
  • We leave the port behind us and set off to Yuyuan Garden, a true oasis of peace and tranquillity inside the Old City. Dating back to the Ming dynasty, this garden was commissioned by a government official so that his parents could enjoy it in their old age. Although not particularly big, it is divided into six sections with pavilions, ponds, paths, bridges, caves and hills surrounded by amazing plants. The garden was extensively restored after the Second World War and has remained unchanged since.
  • After a pleasant stroll, we discover the Bund, definitely a livelier area. * We proceed on foot around this district overlooking the Huangpu river as we observe the hectic rhythm of its offices. The atmosphere becomes more relaxed as we get closer to the river. We take the chance to snap a few photos of this district that somewhat recalls European architecture.
  • We get back to our coach and drive through the French Concession, a territory that was owned by France until 1946. It used to be an inhospitable area in decline characterised by a rebellious and anarchic spirit but, over the years, the district was embellished with Art Deco buildings and typically Parisian bistros.
