Description A fun train tour to discover Castries, the lively and colourful capital of Saint Lucia, and its most characteristic sights and buildings surrounded by a colourful colonial atmosphere without renouncing a break in one of the island’s most beautiful beaches to relax and swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean Sea.

What we will see
  • Tour of Castries by train: streets teeming with people and lively atmosphere
  • Government buildings, market selling local handicrafts and Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception
  • Stop for photos in front of the cathedral
  • One-hour break at the beach in Castries: fruit beverages, relaxation on the white beach, swimming in the Caribbean Sea

What we will do
  • We start our tour to discover Castries and its streets teeming with people to get a taste of the commercial life of Saint Lucia, its lively atmosphere and the hospitality offered by the island’s inhabitants.
  • Founded by the French in 1650, the city takes its name from Charles Eugène Gabriel de la Croix, Marquis of Castries, and was destroyed by various fires over the centuries to then be completely restored after 1948. Today, it is a typical Caribbean city protected by the bay on one side and by the fortifications, now civil buildings, on the other.
  • Aboard a colourful train, we pass in front of various government buildings, admire a lively market selling local handicrafts and cross bustling picturesque streets as far as the impressive Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception where we stop to take a few photos.
  • The cathedral, completed in 1897, is 61 m long and 30 m large and is the largest in the Caribbean.
  • As we continue our tour, the guide illustrates the main sights and provides information along the way.
  • We then reach one of the beaches in Castries where we enjoy a one hour break. Here, we are kindly offered a fruit punch and can spend time relaxing, soaking up the sun on the amazing white sand or going for a dip in the refreshing crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean Sea.
