An excursion for all tastes and palates!

What we will see
  • Minka market: fish, fruit and vegetables
  • Miraflores district: cooking demonstration and lunch at Señorio de Sulco restaurant with typical Peruvian dishes
  • Taverna Queirolo: snack and Pisco tasting session, Peru’s national drink

What we will do
  • We will leave the port on a comfortable air-conditioned coach and head to Minka market, the first stop on our culinary tour. Arriving early in the morning we can visit the fish section straight away and find fresh octopus and shrimp. Then we can move on to the fruit and veg stalls where some typical Peruvian products will catch our eye such as mini-avocado, lucuma, cherimoya and many varieties of potatoes.
  • After our tour of Minka market, we will head to Señorio de Sulco restaurant in the Miraflores district, where we will be treated to a cooking demonstration and lunch. Located in the northern part of the district, this restaurant is famous for offering typical Peruvian dishes prepared with extreme care and elegance. The venue also has various dining rooms, a piano bar and a terrace overlooking the coast.
  • During the demonstration, we will learn how to prepare some typical recipes including 'causa rellena', a type of Peruvian lasagne made with potato, chicken and mayonnaise, and “lomo saltado', stir-fried steak with chips and rice. The dishes prepared during the demonstration will be served at lunch.
  • After lunch, it is time for the last stop on our excursion: a visit to Taverna Queirolo, a real institution in Lima. This historic place retains the atmosphere of a 16th-century taverna, with old photos hung on the walls. We will be offered a snack here, a ham sandwich, and we will taste Pisco, Peru’s national drink, produced by the distillation of aromatic and non-aromatic white and rosé wines.
  • After the tasting at the taverna, we will return to the ship by coach.
