  • Sea excursion in a semi-submersible
  • Waving seagrass meadows and giant molluscs
  • Byron’s Cave or mussel and oyster fields
  • Visit Porto Venere at your leisure
  • The romantic Church of San Pietro overlooking the sea
  • Castello Doria: breathtaking views of the town

What we will do
  • We leave the port behind us on a coach for the enchanted town of Porto Venere, one of the jewels of the Gulf of Poets that captivated famous literary figures and poets with its picturesque charm.
  • But our first destination is the pier, where we climb aboard a spectacular semi-submersible: seated below deck and looking out through a special windowed hull, we set sail to discover this extraordinary underwater world.
  • Below us appear waving seagrass meadows, so important for the health of our seas, and giant molluscs that grow on the sandy sea beds of the Island of Palmaria: we are merely onlookers to an underwater world that gradually reveals its irresistible charm.
  • If weather and visibility allow, we will continue to the Cave of Byron, a natural cavity that opens into a cliff with an exceptional setting, topped by the Church of San Pietro and the imposing walls of the Castello Doria.
  • Alternatively, we will head to the famous mussel and oyster fields in the Bay of Porto Venere, which stretch as far as the picturesque Island of Palmaria.
  • We then return to the pier and disembark for a walk at our leisure in Porto Venere, among its beautiful coloured houses and picturesque alleyways, immersed in an atmosphere of times gone by.
  • We can visit the romantic Church of San Pietro overlooking the sea and the impressive Castello Doria, built in around 1500, standing on a rocky outcrop and offering spectacular views of the town.
  • At the end of our excursion we will return to the ship with the memory of an unforgettable day.
