Qatar is a small emirate we visit on our cruise in the Middle East. An oil-rich desert country that juts out into the turquoise waters of the Persian Gulf.
Our cruise to Qatar focuses mainly on the east coast of the Emirate, with Doha, the technological capital under total reconstruction and full of new skyscrapers being built for the World Cup in 2022. Qatar was once famous for the pearls that were gathered in its seas and today, instead, for the black gold that rises from its subsoil. It is thanks to the enormous petroleum resources that the country has been able to express its vocation for sports. The Government of Qatar is aiming to launch the country globally thanks to sport, presenting itself as a venue for international athletics and football events. Even the desert dunes near Khor al-Adaid allow us to ski on the sand.
