A cruise to Malta, the largest of the three islands of the Maltese archipelago, is the perfect place to spend a holiday discovering ancient Mediterranean civilisations.
In Malta, there is no shortage of beautiful fine sandy beaches, overlooking a turquoise sea and with exciting caves to explore, but the greatest charm are the ancient stories of the Knights of Malta. The port of Valetta, where we dock with our Costa cruise, was the departure point for the legendary Knights of Malta on their journey to fight the Ottoman Empire. The co-cathedral of St. John, the Grandmaster's Palace with the magnificent hall of tapestries and the narrow streets leading down to the sixteenth-century Fort St Elmo are the places where the steps of history resonate. In fact the whole city of Valletta has been declared a world heritage site by UNESCO.
