'Family & Fun - EXPLORE EPHESUS LIKE IN A FAIRY TALE': Excursion in Izmir

Make your children’s experience of Ephesus something truly special by granting them a Costa-style adventure. Ephesus is an incredible site for adults and children alike. No place on earth offers you and your family such exciting history, culture and splendour. Ephesus grew to be the second largest city in the Roman Empire and is now known as one of the seven wonders of the world. You'll see the Celsus Library, Gymnasium and the foundations of what must have once been an enormous Stadium. Once through the main gate, you can't help being drawn to the Arcadian Street, a marvellous marble-colonnaded avenue. One end of the street leads to a small marsh, the other to the dazzling Grand Theatre. Seating some 24,000 spectators, the Theatre is carved into the side of Mount Pion and was the site of the Festival of Artemis celebrated every April. In front of the Theatre is the Marble Road, followed by the road to the Library of Celsus that was almost entirely reconstructed by Viennese archaeologists. Look towards the hill and you'll find the Temple of Hadrian, the Baths of Scholastica and the Terrace Houses. Get ready to listen to fairy tales told by your guide!There will be some free time in a typical shop before returning to the ship.
