'SKAFIDIA MONASTRY & MAGNA GRECIA VINEYARD – SNACK & FOLKLORE SHOW': Excursion in Katakolon / Olympia

Your tour will first take you to the Monastery of Skafidia dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It is situated 10 km from Pyrgos next to the Ionian Sea. As you approach, you see the medieval walls that surround it. It was built in the 10th century and apart from its unique design, it houses many treasures, namely, sacristies, canonicals, uniforms, coins, votive offerings and the banner of the nunnery, which is hand-woven and dedicated to The Holy Virgin. The nunnery also has archives and a library with many manuscripts which prove its participation in the War of Independence of 1821. You will then head to Magna Grecia vineyard. A visit to Agriturismo Magna Grecia offers up a feast for the senses as guests take in a demonstration of olive harvesting and participate in the “adventure” of wine, from vine to glass. Studded with olive trees and vineyards, the 30-acre property o is a haven for those who wish to savor the flavors of Greece and its natural beauty.
