Guests have an opportunity to provide details of any special dietary requirements when booking, including hypoglycaemic diets for diabetics, gluten-free diets or other diets for particular allergies/intolerances. A selection of dishes for coeliac disease sufferers is available on all our ships, regardless of their destination (except for cruises in Asia). These will be served in the main restaurant.
Costa Cruises is working with the Italian coeliac disease association AIC (Associazione Italiana Celiachia) on a special project to make it easier for sufferers to enjoy gluten-free meals away from home, checking the suitability of all the products used by the main restaurant for Guests affected by coeliac disease.
For Mediterranean and North Sea cruises, complete gluten-free menus are available for breakfast, lunch and dinner (only if eaten in the main restaurant). Furthermore, coeliac disease sufferers will receive a welcome tray in their cabin at the start of their cruise and can request a packed lunch for excursions that do not include lunch on board.
By carrying out appropriate quality audits, AIC has certified the following ships in our fleet as providing a full gluten-free service when operating in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe area: Costa Deliziosa, Costa Pacifica, Costa Luminosa, Costa Serena, Costa Concordia, Costa Atlantica, Costa Mediterranea, Costa Victoria and Costa Marina. In any case, Costa Cruises guarantees consistency of service across all its ships cruising in the Mediterranean and North Sea.
In order to ensure efficient service, please would you re-confirm your requirements with the on-board Customer Service office when boarding the ship.
Passengers who intend to bring the products they need for their diet from home are kindly asked to inform the Service Manager or Maitre on board, immediately after boarding, so that appropriate arrangements can be made for the preparation of meals.
