ABB Energy Efficiency Award 2011
On 25 November 2011, Costa Cruises received the ABB Energy Efficiency Award 2011 in recognition of its commitment to improving the efficiency of its systems, with a resulting reduction in environmental impact.

Poseidon Award
The “Poseidon Award” was presented to Costa Cruises for its constant commitment to water conservation and environmental protection.  Awarded for the first time this year, it was presented by the Italian Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Centres (FICLU) and the International Hydrological Programme (IHP) Committee in collaboration with the Levanto and Cinque Terre UNESCO Club.

2011 Green Cruise
The RINA group's “2011 Green Cruise” award was presented in Montecarlo on 21 September 2011 during the “RINA Green Night”, the annual event that rewards the best designs in terms of environmental sustainability. This year, for the first time, the event included a category dedicated to cruise ships, in which Costa Cruises was chosen for having achieved the voluntary “Green Plus” rating with its flagship Costa Favolosa.

Best Family Product 2012
On 27 September 2011, in Hamburg, during the Seatrade Europe exhibition, Costa Cruises received the “German Cruise Prize” award as the “Best Family Product 2012” and therefore the best cruise for families. The German Cruise Prize is an annual award presented by the “Koehlers Kreuzfahrt Guide”, a German guidebook entirely dedicated to cruises.

Carbon Care Champions Award
The Costa Cruises PAO (Pacific Asia Operations) office in Hong Kong received the “Carbon Care Champions Award” from Carbon Care Asia (CCA) as a 100% carbon emission free office. CCA is the professional environmental sustainability organisation that deals with greenhouse gas emissions by companies.

CAPITAL Best of the Best for Executives 2011
Costa Cruises received the “CAPITAL Best of the Best for Executives 2011” award organised by CAPITAL Magazine, Hong Kong's most popular magazine devoted to the business community. Costa Cruises was chosen by a panel consisting of major figures from the local business community and the magazine's editorial office.

Leonardo Qualità Italia 2010 Award
On 25 January 2011, Costa Cruises received the “Leonardo Qualità Italia 2010” award, which has been presented every year since 1993 by the “Leonardo Committee” to individuals from the world of business and culture who have distinguished themselves in promoting Italian excellence abroad, with the aim of publicising and affirming the quality of Italian products around the world. The award was presented at the Quirinale by Italian President Giorgio Napolitano.

T.O. d’OR
In December 2010, Costa Cruises received the “T.O. d’OR” award in France for its sales services from TOURCOM, one of the country's top 5 travel agency networks (approx. 600 agencies). Costa Cruises was selected from among 60 tour operators operating in France.

GEBTA environmental commitment award
On 29 May 2009, Costa Cruises received the GEBTA (Guild of European Business Travel Agents) award in Barcelona for its commitment to environmental protection. GEBTA represents over 300 travel agencies in Europe which are leaders in their respective countries (Germany, Spain, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal and the UK).

“Middle East’s Leading Cruise Company” 2009
On the occasion of the World Travel Awards 2009, one of the most prestigious international awards in the travel and tourism sector, Costa Cruises was selected as the best Middle East Cruise Company based on the votes of 167,000 tourism industry professionals from 198 countries.

“Most Popular Cruise Line” and  “Preferred Cruise Line” 2009 in China
During the first half of April 2009, Costa Cruises received 2 important awards in China: the “Most Popular Cruise Line” award, presented during the "World Travel Fair” 2009, the leading tourism exhibition in eastern China, and the “Golden List Award” of the “Preferred Cruise Line" competition organised by the National Geographic Traveler magazine.

Internorga Award 2009 on 12 March 2009 in Hamburg
Pier Luigi Foschi, Chairman and Managing Director of Costa Cruises S.p.A., received the special award from Internorga, Europe's biggest catering and hotel accommodation exhibition. The award is presented every year to people, institutions and companies who have made a significant contribution to the development of the sector represented by Internorga.

Cruise Line of the year
Costa Cruises received the “Cruise Line of the Year” award from TRAVELhotnews.com as part of the “Awards of Merit 2008.” The “Awards of Merit” presented by TRAVELhotnews.com are organised by the Canadian trade magazine Logimonde Inc. to reward the best companies in the tourism industry.

Best Cruise Company of the year
At the Travel Awards 2008 gala evening held in Antwerp (Belgium) in November 2008, attended by over 600 representatives of the Belgian tourism industry, Costa Cruises was presented with the "Best Cruise Company of the year" award.

Social Corporate Responsibility Award
As part of the Sicurezza e Sicurtech Expo exhibition in Milan in 2008, a special Social Corporate Responsibility Award was created for companies which, in addition to complying with all the accident prevention and safety at work legislation, distinguish themselves in terms of the results achieved as a result of having adopted specific prevention measures. Costa Cruises was chosen for its “B.E.S.T. 4” project.

Best Brand Campaign 2008
In November 2008, Travel Weekly China, the most authoritative trade publication in China, rewarded Costa Cruises with the “Best Grand Campaign” for all tourism sector categories. Costa received the votes of almost 600,000 readers of the magazine.

“Top Cruise Lines of Popularity" Award 2008
During the China International Travel Mart in November 2008, Costa Cruises was picked as the most popular cruise company by World Traveler Media, China's only media group dedicated to tourism.

China Awards 2008
As part of the China Awards 2008, an event organised and promoted by the Italy-China Foundation, Costa Cruises was awarded the “Lombard Elite” prize as the best exponent of the Made in Italy label in China.

Oscar dei porti 2008
Conceived by Port TV, the TV station of Italian ports, sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Transport, the Oscar dei Porti rewards Italian excellence in the maritime sector. The 2008 edition saw Costa Cruises triumph in the category reserved for "cruises" for its commitment to environmental protection.

2008 World Travel Awards
Costa Cruises was selected as the best company in South America based on voting that involved 167,000 tourism professionals from 198 countries. Now in their 15th year, the “World Travel Awards” are one of the most prestigious international prizes in the travel and tourism sector.

Company to watch 2008
Databank presented Costa Cruises with the "Company to Watch 2008" award in the "tour operators" sector. Databank is Italy's leading "competitive intellligence" company, systematically gathering, analysing and distributing strategic information on competitors and the competitive environment. Now in its second year, the award is based on an analysis conducted every year by Databank of the main companies in 250 different sectors of the Italian economy.

The Giorgio Sacerdoti Award
The Giorgio Sacerdoti Award is an initiative set up as part of the PKM360° research project and rewards the most innovative and effective corporate knowledge management and sharing projects. Costa Cruises was rewarded for its CostaPlanet company intranet programme.

Sodalitas Social Award 2008
Costa Cruises was one of the finalists in the competition for the Sodalitas Social Award, which is presented every year by the Sodalitas Foundation to the best Social Accountability projects. The Italian Company was selected in the “Social Marketing Campaign" category for its activities dedicated to providing information to Guests and raising their awareness about marine protection, which were carried out thanks to its partnership with W.W.F. Italy.

Venice Blue Flag 2008
Costa Cruises has signed the new version of the “Venice Blue Flag”, a voluntary agreement for safeguarding and protecting the environment in Venice promoted by the Municipality of Venice and the Venice Port Authority. With this important environmental recognition, Costa Cruises undertakes, together with other companies, to adopt environmental measures that exceed the ones required by current legislation for ships docking in Venice.

The Most Popular Cruise Line 2008
During the 2008 edition of the “World Travel Fair”, the leading tourism fair in eastern China, Costa Cruises stood out among 500 exhibitors from 51 countries and regions, receiving the "Most Popular Cruise Line" award. The winner was picked on the basis of an initial selection carried out by the VIP committee of the World Travel Fair and subsequent online voting open to the public.

Award for Customer Management 2007
The “Award for Customer Management 2007”, presented as part of the China Customer Management Forum 2008 in Shanghai, the main event for the sector, is intended to improve standards of “customer management”, identifying “best practice benchmarks” in various different sectors. This year's Forum, which was based on extremely rigorous selection criteria, identified the winner as the Costa Cruises Call Centre in China, both because of the high quality of the service provided and because it received no complaints at all during the year.

The Best Marketing Promotion Award 2007
Costa Cruises was rewarded by Traveler magazine, China's leading tourism and travel magazine, with the “Best Marketing Promotion Award”, the prize given to the best marketing campaign in China, presented during the “Gold List Travel Award 2007” event, which is attended every year by the leading Chinese tourism operators.

Best selling cruise company in Spain 2007
During the 15th edition of the “Travelranking” award presented by the Spanish “Agenttravel” magazine, Costa Cruises was voted the best selling cruise company among Spanish travel agents.

RINA "Best4" certification for the Savona Palacrociere
The Savona Palacrociere building received the B.E.S.T. 4 certification from RINA in recognition of its excellent performance in terms of quality of service, environmental protection, safety and social accountability. B.E.S.T. 4 (Business Excellence Sustainable Task) is a detailed voluntary certification system that certifies compliance with the highest international standards regarding Social Accountability (SA 8000), Environmental Protection (UNI EN ISO 14001), Safety (OHSAS 18001) and Quality (UNI EN ISO 9001).

Comune Riciclone 2007
As part of the 2007 edition of "Comuni Ricicloni", CiAl, the Italian national consortium for the recovery and recycling of aluminium packaging, rewarded Costa Cruises for the results achieved in the sorted collection of aluminium on its ships.

Bit Tourism Award 2007
Costa Cruises was selected as the best shipping company at the first edition of the "Bit Tourism Award", the award promoted by Expocts - Fiera Milano with Panorama Travel and the support of the Region of Sicily to recognise excellence in the Italian and international tourism industry. Costa Cruises was selected by the travelling public, who were asked to vote via a dedicated website, the first time this has been done in Italy as part of an initiative of this kind. Over 80,000 people logged on to the website before 31 January 2007, casting a total of 28,000 valid votes.

Venice Blue Flag 2007

Costa Cruises won the “Best Cruise Company in the Mediterranean 2007" award presented to readers of the British specialised "Selling Cruises" magazine.

Readers' Choice Award 2006 of Condè Nast Traveller magazine
Readers of the US edition of Condé Nast Traveler decided to reward Costa Cruises for its style and quality by presenting it with the Reader’s Choice Award, naming Costa one of the 10 best cruise companies in the world for 2006 in the Large Ships section dedicated to the major cruise operators. Costa is the only European company to appear on this list.ers of the British specialised "Selling Cruises" magazine.

Best Cruise Company according to Spanish Muchoviaje magazine
In 2006, Costa Cruises was selected as the best cruise company by readers of “Muchoviaje”, the leading Spanish travel magazine.

2005/2006 Consumer Superbrands Award
At the Topbrands Tribute Event Costa Crociere won the “Consumer Superbrands Award 2005-2006” in the "Identification" category and was commended as follows: "Costa Crociere is the brand perceived as being closest to the needs and demands of the consumers." The award was determined by a panel of customers interviewed by a major international research institute and places Costa Crociere among the 50 high profile Italian brands which stand out on account of their history, turnover, number of employees and appeal, and are featured in Topbrands, the book of leading brands in Italy 2005-2006.

Verkehrsburo Travel 2005 
Verkehrsburo/RUEFA, the biggest chain of travel agents in Austria, chose Costa Cruises as one of the "TOP 5" companies in its "best product" category.

“Le Voyage d’Or” 2005 prize for the best call center in France
At the 2005 edition of “Top Resa”, the main French tourism fair, Costa Crociere’s Contact Center was awarded “Le Voyage d’Or” as the best booking call center among all those run by tour operators in France.

Prize for the best cruise terminal in the Mediterranean
At the 2005 Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention the international magazine Dream World Cruise Destination presented an award to the Savona Palacrociere, the cruise terminal managed directly by Costa Crociere, selected as the best passenger terminal in the Mediterranean in 2004.

“Stella d’argento” 2004 prize awarded by Assocomunicazione
Costa Crociere’s promotional campaign “Apri una parentesi” (“Make a digression”) won the “Stella d’argento” (“Silver Star”) from Assocomunicazione, the association of the most important Italian communication companies. The campaign, which was mounted in March 2004, was implemented in periodicals and with the support of display stands arranged in travel agencies, in department stores and in 100 gyms around Italy. The creativity of the "Apri una parentesi" advertising was based on the regenerative concept of spring cruises.

B.E.S.T. 4 Certification from RINA
In May 2004 RINA officially conferred on Costa Crociere the BEST 4, an integrated voluntary scheme certifying corporate compliance with the highest international standards in the areas of social accountability (SA 8000, issued in 2001), environment (UNI EN ISO 14001, issued in 1996), safety (OHSAS 18001, issued in 1999) and quality (UNI EN ISO 9001, issued in 2000). This is an unprecedented event not only in Italy but worldwide: Costa Crociere is in fact the first Italian business enterprise to achieve all four types of certification at the same time, and the first shipping company in the world to attain social accountability certification.

2004 Interline Award
The Interline International Group presented the Interline Award to Costa Crociere for the Best Advertising Campaign in 2003, namely the series of TV commercials entitled “La vacanza che ti manca” (“The holiday that you’re missing”).

Alitalia “Io Leonardo” Prize in 2003
For the first time Costa Crociere won Alitalia’s “Io Leonardo” prize, which is awarded by Italy’s domestic airline to the tour operators who have performed best during the year in terms of productivity and loyalty programs.

Special Prize from the Port of Amsterdam in 2003
The Port of Amsterdam awarded Costa Crociere a special prize for “the important cruise activity it has continuously brought to the Port of Amsterdam over the last 10 years”

2003 Television and Cinema Advertising Award 
This important international award went to Costa Crociere’s TV commercials from the campaign “La vacanza che ti manca”. The three ads – entitled “breakfast”, “therapy” and “jogging” – won the Television and Cinema Advertising Award bronze medal for the “Travel and Tourism” category at the prestigious New York Advertising Festival, which – together with the Cannes Festival – is one of the top international showcases for the advertising industry.

2003 Marcopolo Award
Costa Crociere won the prize for the Cruise category in the competition held by Marcopolo, the satellite TV travel channel, in collaboration with BIT, the international tourism trade fair, and with the support of the Sicilian Regional Administration.

2002 ROME Prize
CONFITARMA, the Italian Shipowners’ Confederation, presented this prestigious award to Costa Crociere; the ROME Prize is awarded to members who stand out on account of their achievements in the areas of safety and environmental compliance.

2002 Venice Tourism Award
The Venice Port Authority chose Costa Crociere as the “most loyal” shipping company in the port’s passenger sector.

2002 Ediforum Tns-Abacus Prize
The spots in Costa Crociere’s TV campaign “La vacanza che ti manca” won the Ediforum Tns-Abacus prize in the “Tourism and spare time” category. The competition, held by the publishing company Ediforum in collaboration with Tns Abacus, is designed to test the effectiveness and lasting impact of advertising in the press, on billboards and on television.

2002 Key Award
Costa Crociere’s “breakfast” ad from the TV campaign “La vacanza che ti manca” won the prestigious Key Award for the category “Spare time, sport, tourism and travel”. The spot was commended for its innovative language and ironic tone. The objective of the Key Award is to enhance the effectiveness and aesthetic appeal of Italian commercials.

2002 Interactive Key Award
Costa Crociere won the 2002 Interactive Key Award in the “Beyond the Banner” category, in recognition of creativity and technological innovation in online communication. The award was given for the digital advertising campaign – “Take a half-hour break and arrange your cruise at www.costa.it– which Costa Crociere conceived in collaboration with McCann-Erickson to promote the online competition “A made-to-measure cruise”, aimed at web users who arranged their cruise vacations on the Internet and then purchased it later at a travel agency.

2002 Condé Nast Traveller Readers' Choice Award
Costa Crociere was chosen in a poll by the readers of Condé Nast Traveller, coming first in the Readers' Choice Award for the best Italian cruise company. The Readers' Choice Awards are the result of Traveller’s survey of its readers’ preferences, expressed in a structured questionnaire with twenty tourist industry categories including hotels, restaurants, holiday resort villages, airlines, car rental firms, cruise lines as well as cities, islands and monuments.

Osservatorio Viaggi in 2002
A survey conducted in April 2002 by Osservatorio Viaggi TradeLab, the association of leading Italian tour operators, based on a sample of 13,000 Italian Internet users, found that Costa Crociere’s e-business strategies were the most effective in the industry.

2002 Pomod'Oro Excite Award 
Costa Crociere’s web-based advertising campaign, called “Take a half-hour break and arrange your cruise at www.costa.it", won the “Spare time” section of the second edition of the "Pomod'Oro Excite Award", one of the most important Internet advertising competitions in Italy. The campaign was devised by McCann-Erickson and consisted of an interactive digital video, which was emailed to people from July through October 2001 in order to promote the online competition “A made-to-measure cruise”.

2002 Royal Viking Award
Costa Crociere won the 2002 Royal Viking Award from SAS - Scandinavian Airlines, for its sales results attained in 2001.

2001 Voyage D'Or Pro 
France’s travel agencies awarded Costa Crociere the “Voyage d’Or Pro”, the prize conferred on the best cruise company operating in that country.

2001 Internet Key Award
The website www.costa.it won the 2001 Internet Key Award for category 5 “Tourism and travel”. The prize was awarded by the magazine Media Key, which commended the site for its creativity, effectiveness, technical quality and attractive layout; www.costa.it is aimed at consumers.

2001 MKT Prize
Costa Crociere was awarded the 2001 MKT prize for the innovative nature of its projects related to online marketing activities. Costa Crociere received the award specifically for its promotional campaign “Scatta in crociera” (“Hop on a cruise”), which simultaneously involved the website for the public www.costa.it the B2B website for travel agents www.costaclick.net and the Internet Cafés on board the ships.

2000 Massimo Servakis Prize
Costa Crociere won the 2000 Massimo Servakis prize for innovative communication, awarded by the magazine Trade Business and by PCO Italia, for its website initiatives (creation of a dedicated section of the site with a virtual visit of the ship, banner campaign and web-mailing, competition, live webcast of the christening, production of a limited number of copies of a CD-ROM with film clips) organized to mark the christening of the Costa Atlantica.

Nomination for the 2000 Pomod'Oro Excite Award
By virtue of the campaign "Vinci Costa Atlantica con la diretta online" (“Win the Costa Atlantica on the live webcast”), mounted to mark the christening of the Costa Atlantica, Costa Crociere was one of the 10 nominations in the “Non Solo Web” category of the 2000 Pomod'Oro Excite Award, in the competition organized by Excite Italia. The “Non Solo Web” section refers to the best web-based advertising campaign by companies operating both on the Internet and through traditional channels of communication.

1999 Visual Award Plaque of Honor
The Federazione Italiana Vetrinisti e l'Accademia Vetrinistica Italiana (Italian Window-Dressing Federation and Window-Dressing Academy) presented Costa Crociere with a special award: the "Plaque of Honor" for the best visual merchandising campaign mounted in 1999. This prestigious prize – one of the “Visual Awards” presented by the Federation – is assigned by a jury of marketing, communications and window-dressing experts to the company which, in its industry and with regard to its communications mix, has developed the visual marketing initiatives with the greatest impact and professionalism.
